Visakhapatnam Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) has held a Travel & Tourism Meet here to promote the potenial of Dholavira, the Harappan site in Gujarat.
The TCGL Tourist Officer Ajit Kumar gave a presentation on Dholavira which was declared as the UNESCO World Heritage site in July. Dholavira located in Kutcher is considered one among five largest Harappan sites belonging to the Indus Valley Civilisation.
The TCGL officer said that that they have prepared a road map and are sending 30 travel agents in September to see Dholavira to see the potential to draw tourist from Andhra Pradesh.
MVV Satyanaraya MP, Visakhapatnam who was the chief guest said that he would make all efforts to make Visakhapatnam also an International tourism hub and thanked Gujarat tourism for their initiatives.
Pyda Krishna Prasad, president elect, AP Chambers of Commerce said that he would request Andhra and Telengana tourism corporations to work together and chanbers would always support the travel associations.
K. Vijay Mohan, State president of TTAA, said that it is a good sign that TGCL is encouraging travel agencies to explore the tourism potenial in Gujarat, and to get a deep understanding of Dholavira and requested both MP and Chambers to request the government to create a stimulus to promote tourism in the State.
